ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is one of the longest established forms of healthcare in the world. Acupuncturists are trained to use subtle diagnostic techniques that have been developed and refined for thousands of years. The focus is on you as an individual, not your illness, and all symptoms are seen in relation to each other. Treatment involves either the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body, the use of moxa burning ontop of the certain meridian points on the skin, qua sha scraping of the skin or suction cupping to affect, harmonise & rebalance the flow of your body’s qi, or vital energy throughout the meridians & channels that are beneth the skin.
This can help release pain, move stagnation and warm damp conditions in the body. Initially 4-5 weekly treatments are recommended and then appointments arranged to suit your needs and maintained with a top up treatment every few months or beginning of each season.
AROMATHERAPY MASSAGE
Aromatherapy is a holistic healing treatment that uses natural plant extracts to promote health and well-being. Sometimes it’s called essential oil therapy. Aromatherapy works through the sense of smell, skin absorption and ingested. At Sage Holistic we focus on the topical application through massage. When essential oils are applied to the skin, their healing components are absorbed into the bloodstream. From there they disperse to the specific organs and systems on which they work. Some of the essential oils’ components, carried via the bloodstream, can also pass through the blood-brain barrier to the limbic system in the brain, where they can influence the endocrine and autonomic nervous systems.
Aromatherapy uses aromatic essential oils medicinally to improve the health of the body, mind, and spirit. It enhances both physical and emotional health.

FACIAL
Facials deeply cleanse the skin and may help fight certain skin problems, such as mild acne or dryness. The treatments leave faces glowing and are typically very relaxing, as they include a massage component. By stimulating the face muscles with regular massage helps to bring oxygen to that area—which is a natural form of anti aging skin care in itself. More blood circulation and oxygen flow to the area increases collagen production, which enhances the elasticity of your skin and gives a healthy and natural glow to the complexion.
Our facials are designed for each patients individual skin type, bearing in mind their unique health history. Using only the best natural ingredients from Neil’s Yard.
KINESIOLOGY
Kinesiology encompasses the gentle art of muscle monitoring to access information of stressors by identifying imbalances in their clients structural, chemical and mental emotional wellbeing. Originating in the 1970’s, it combines Western techniques and Eastern wisdom to promote physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health. The goal of any holistic therapy is to restore balance in an individual and aid their body’s natural healing process. Kinesiology enables people to detect and correct various imbalances that may relate to stress, nutrition, learning problems, minor injuries and other issues they meet in their daily life.
MASSAGE
Massage causes physiological changes in your body through:
The relaxation response, which is an involuntary, yet predictable response of the nervous system to massage techniques and touch. The relaxation response is a state in which your heart and breathing rate slow, your blood pressure goes down, your production of stress hormones decreases, and your muscles relax. The relaxation response also seems to increase the available level of serotonin, which is a chemical in the body that positively affects emotions and thoughts. The relaxation response may decrease the physical effects of stress and reduce the risks associated with stress, such as hypertension, cardiac arrhythmias, anxiety, insomnia, persistent fatigue, sexual dysfunction, digestive disorders and psychological issues.
The mechanical responses, which are physical effects that occur in the body when pressure is applied to the soft tissues. Increase in blood and lymph circulation. Relaxation and normalisation of the soft tissue (muscle, connective tissue, tendons, ligaments), which releases nerves and deeper connective tissues. Together, these responses can produce physical and emotional benefits.
By touching the skin or applying pressure it relaxes muscles, tendons, and ligaments.
This can lead to both superficial and deep tissues finding a better alignment and balance in your body.
Please note: Massage should never be done over an area currently being treated with radiotherapy, or whilst a radiotherapy skin reaction remains. Neither should it be done over any area which is painful or tender due to cancer or its treatment. We would recommend light massage as opposed to deep (e.g. sports) massage.
NUTRITION
Nutritional therapy can effectively address underlying imbalances in the bodily systems, rather than simply suppressing symptoms. Nutritional therapy works to enhance the biochemical processes of the body to help it function more efficiently. Our practitioners understand the biochemistry of disease processes, such as hormonal imbalances, depression, arthritis, digestive complaints, and many other issues, and can therefore shed light upon foods and habits that may be hindering the healing of a particular disease, as well as suggesting specific nutrients to enhance certain biochemical processes and address biochemical imbalances. In consultation you will will be given a plan that fits specifically with your unique needs. No two people are the same, so no treatment plan is the same for everyone. The naturopathic principles focus on “therapist as teacher”, i.e. the therapist teaches and empowers the client to take responsibility for their own health – awakening their health potential by guiding them to make the right choices based on their current situation.
